What kind of marks? Scratches?
Try googling: Metal Plastic Scratch Remover. You'll find products used for ipods and the like.
I've heard of toothpaste being used before. Heck, I even heard of the metal polish/ buffer method.
Depending on the mark, words of advice... if its chrome... leave it alone, unless it's really bad.

Here is something useful unatiq, Lord Dextro orders parts from this site to bring handsets back to factory new. HOWEVER... being that this is a touchscreen... the front plate would be tricky due to the fact that this piece typically dosen't come with a digitizer (plastic lining to detect finger presses, glued to the faceplate. (It would be wise to have this professionally done.) Check the site... they always add new items. http://cnn.cn/shop/nokia-n97-c-24_776.html

Okay I stand corrected... this faceplate for the N97 comes with a digitizer installed... but it is pricey!
Now you can change between white and black whenever you feel like it!

Just use toothpaste! That´s what we used to do with the screens on phones and it worked perfectly. Toothpaste is a gentle grinding paste. So it takes some time to get it smooth and shiny. A pice of cloth and grind away. Dont expect a fast result, as I said it is gentle and will take some time. If you are not shue try it out on something similar first.

Em, I'm really sorry for asking, but is the chrome part only on the lining of the screen? what about the lining of the keyboard? my n97 chromed colour lining on the keyboard has faded. Meaning to say that the paint wore off. To restore it do i have to buy the whole housing?

Mine too mate...i juz bought my N97 2 weeks ago & i notice that the silver lining around the keyboard started to peel off. I don't have this kind of problems with my N95 (which i bought in 2007). I think most of N97 users experience the same thing...wat do u say?

My camera's shutter button and volume rocker are now white. this really looks nasty and is disappointing considering that none of my old Palm Treo buttons have faded at all.
Sometimes I really loath this phone.
