Nokia N97 2.0 Release Stages >>> (Postponed)

apple manage to release firrmware to millions of people at the same time with no problems... thats one of three things apple got right over nokia

they release firmware to everyone at the same time with no problems as people wait days weeks to update or they dont knwo about the update or for different reasons dont update right away.. but it still works and i used to max a 20mbit connection everytime with itunes with whatever i downloaded. anytime..

second the list of language in the options was the same no matter where you downloaded the firmware.. which for me is a problem as my phone is uk n97 and i like to have greek in the options btu with th english code i dont have it.. i had to change to a greece code..

third is the amount of ram.. it barely plays a decent quality mp4 without crashing non stop and freezing every other second.

apart from that your right.. the iphone sucks it only recently could send mms and take videos witht he camera.. and thats only for the 3gs.. unless you jailbreak of course for cycorder.. but that voids worrenty and many are scared to jailbreak and apple are trying to stop jailbreaking and succeeding so far the hackers dont have a jailbreak for the last 2 firmwares..

no flash on the camera 3mp camera i cant put a theme no changing sms tone nothing! no bluetooth send recieve files... the iphone is just so much crap over the 3 points they got right the rest just sucks the bad out weighs the good..

but nokia have sold much less 97 handsets they could easily put the same languages and set the firmware to everyone at the same time without problems.. if apple could let millions of people download at the same time no problems then nokia can let the few hundred thousand that have the n97 to dl the firmware

nope i have nothing infact i have like 3 widgets only just so it uses less ram.. but most the time the mp4s just freeze all the time if i convert them to high quality mp4s ive had them crash saying the ram has run out when i have nothing running its annoying

Try hardreset, and if that doesn't help then send it to repair. Becuse mine plays fine, both high and low quality.

Yeah, like everyone else I got my hopes up with the v2.0 firmware update. And yeah like everyone else i was disappointed hell when nothing showed up today.  I could understand the pressures of having the WHOLE WORLD waiting for your end product, so in that respect I can give the development guys/gals a break. But as a customer, I don't see how they missed the flaws from the get go. I don't understand why they just didn't wait to release the FINISHED product that didn't piss you off in the middle of an app or call or while answering a call, or the random crashing of apps THAT CAME WITH THE PHONE, i.e. Facebook Widget.

I have never gotten caught into the keep up with the hype of having the latest and greatest cell phone but when I saw the first bit of what the N97 could do I was in awe. Finally a phone that can do almost everything I would want a phone to do. I payed my $650+ (the most i have EVER payed for a phone, EVER!). And was shocked in how small it was. But when I turned it on I was surprised to see how bland the user experience was. With in a couple hours I was finding UI flaws and inconsistencies all over the operating system. Its a damn shame when you have 3rd party apps like Gravity (An absolutely wonderful application, that would have updates almost everyday to iron out the major bugs) that kept abreast with flaws and provided a service that they promised.

While the N97 definitely has the Iphone beat with the amount of "user services". The implementation Was extremely flawed. Whoever decided on the ram size and clock speed were idiots. I mean yeah for a low end phone that would be fine, but realistically, for a phone that is supposed to multitask (sometimes) play video, music, pictures, web. It seems almost like it starts to choke before it even gets started. If i could somehow re-solder an equivalent processor but with a high clockrate, maybe around 600Mhz, that would be fine. The sad part is that this phone does not WOW the user, and does get people talking. We ALL know how crappy the Iphone is, I had one for 2 weeks and was absolutely pissed with the little things I couldn't do, like bluetooth my contacts list. So I took it back.

Now, here I am, with another phone thats disappointing me, but not with the feature set, but with the low end hardware and now enters the N900 which is cheaper than the phone I bought a couple months ago from the SAME company with the hardware the N97 should have have and compatible with t-Mobiles frequencies. I really don't see why I should keep this N97, oh yeah I do..."It's beeter to deal with known issues than looking over the fence and jumping into a completely different yard of issues." I absolutely LOVE Nokia phones, but this whole N97 this was disaster.

So, until I see in NSU or my N97 or the NOKIA website that v2.0 is out this whole speculation thing is for the birds.

To the guy the the mod threatened to ban for questioning his "sources", I think its funny that people get mad that you don't believe rumors...

i dont care about the scrolling i never use the touch screen i care about is the mp4 playing well withotu freezing and crashing on high quality and the ringtone problem where it plays the default nokia tune even when u have another ringtone set.. hopfully it will fix them problems oh yes and mroe memory on the c: drive

guys nokia been cheated us.any statement that they give us consider cheating us.nokia been cheated whole world.i am really upset with nokia make us wait like dog.

lol. nokia never gave us a release date for the firmware upgrade. so how is that cheating?
I feel a little cheated they released a so called "flagship" phone that is sub par, but they haven't cheated you by not releasing the firmware last night.
