Well I have to agree, everytime I use my N97 I think its Kind of cool.  Then I pick up my wifes iphone 32gb 3gs and its smooth as. The interface is just there, barely touch the screen and it responds everytime, scrolls amazingly.  Her phone has never froze.
Anyway..........I think Nokia has lost me and my business fleet.
Not to mention the Apps Smiley

Why can't nokia release it that easy? It isn't a new phone to release, but a mere firmware update for a 3-4mos old phone that's getting nearly spoiled out with bugs and flaws.

I still respect them for their decision, but more and more people are purchasing their products, and about to experience almost the same fate as ours here.

But are they still testing that firmware? I think they have to release so soon. This weekend was supposed to be so fine to have that firmware installed into our phone to get satisfied with what we just bought.

Nokia loves people to wait and wait, and get excited on the upcoming release, while they (NOKIA) love being called up by phone or chase on what's up with the release. If they are announcing a new good firmware, they should make sure that it has been finally done and ready to release. No press release whatsoever is necessary with this. They're getting to the whole world's nerves.

Nokia, if your reading this, please don't take us for granted. That firmware must be on your N97 first release, and not being released along with your new N900 or 5530 with Kinetic scrolling. You are making your N97 users pitiful. And the truth is, your losing them one by one.

After you release this firmware, don't expect people will forget this. N97 is facing a lot of issues, not only with its firmware, but its HARDWARE, for instance, the camera lens cover. Support your product effectively and eventually everything will work out fine.

ok i have to admit, this update postponing really sucks!! but also i don't want nokia to rush and release yet another version that is full of bugs!! so i think i'd rather wait a week or so than to have to wait another three months so nokia would release the next firmware to fix the bugs they left because they were in a hurry  Angry maybe we should be thankful that nokia is taking its time perfecting its new software Smiley or at least lets hope that's why nokia's late Grin

As much as I hate the idea of a touch screen only Phone I definitely hate the N97s 3 row keyboard even more. It needs a dedicated row for numbers, That stupid pad to the left is useless especially for gaming  and the space would have better been served for a number pad & directional keys. Also, I would really prefer the space-bar in the center. I just can't seem to get used to it so I  Just ordered a Blackberry Storm 9530 to replace it.

Take a look at the Gen 1 Storm with it's firmware update. The phone kicks butt. At the end of the day the N97s Camera & GPS also fail to impress me & having to Compress & decode  files so that they play on a device with 32 GB of internal storage Is unacceptable. it's just too much of a step backwards from Palm OS IMO. I see the Blackberry as a giant leap forward From the N97.
Who knows, I could be wrong but considering that GPS, Typing, and having documents to go are of the up most Importance to me. I don't think so. the N97 Is just too clumsy a device & I'm just sick of it.

Thought it was a little too good to be true, oh well, we'll keep waiting . . .

Nice Demo,

However, I did not see any serious typing in the demo what so ever.

Nor was there any solid demo of WebBrowser or Webbrowsing on that phone.

I need a solid key response and also that kinetic scroll you saw is in the next ROM.

Sorry to see another user leave.  However, if emotion and electronics are the mix, you might want to go back to a non-gui phone.

iPhone has to be jail broke to get any freedom of choice.

Yes there is a gazillion users and gazillion apps on the apple store for it.  But only the apps that the app store will allow.

This is why there is such stability.  Apple is controlling every step of the process.  Stability and simplicity is everything to Apple.

As for Blackberry.

Good luck their.  They are very late to the game.  They are banking that their loyal Business Users will stay with BB after all these GUI tech updates.

I doubt it.

Remember, you still have executives that barely understood how to use a keyboard using the qwerty that was on the black berry that black berry was so proud of.  Now everyone is going after apples touch screen keyboard.

Mind you large keys are easier to touch and find with feel, but touch screens with nothing other than look and touch. The Execs are not going to buy it.

They will like the slick look and feel.  But for true business use.  Not.  The old tactile feel will rule there until a better method arrives.

I wish you luck with your Black Berry.

I have a friend that has one of those by the way.  His major complaint is battery life...

Fully agree here.

I have recently reported a bug to Nokia about the OVI Store.  It was using the latest release of the OVI Store software.  I mentioned the same issue here on our Forum.  It has to do with how the C Drive gets filled and system slows and then the only way back is multiple cold hard resets.  They are investigating it and trying to find a solution.  I am glad they are taking the time to fix this.

OVI store is their new bread and butter source of income.

I am hoping they also fix the OVI store so it properly senses what is and is not compatible with the phone.  As well as cleaning up after itself so that the cache is not filled with OVI graphics.

Additionally I think they are trying to figure out why the hard reset does not fully reset the C Drive as it is suppose to.

I am glad for the wait.  Hopefully it is good news that these fixes are being looked into to ensure the phone is just that much more stable.

you people ****,...one firmware delay and you all decide apple iphone is better?

there are so many downsides to apple iphone but i must admit there are a few plus which i never thought i would see from iphone back to nokia...

the touch screen is a lot more sensative  on the iphone ( not that i use the touch screen on the nokia) the touch screen only keyboard is very annoying. but with the nokia you can use gloves using the touch screen.. if that is handy to anyone.. i never wear gloves so for me thats pointless.. but then i again i dont even use the touch screen on the nokia.

iphones crappy 3mp camera with no flash so come night your not taking any pics.. and if your like me and use the camera on the phone and dont like to carry around a digital cam thats a problem..

no themes without jailbreaking.. i mean what do apple care if i want to put a theme.. and you cant change sms tone and changing ringtone is a hassle to.. maybe those points some might say who cares? and your hapopy with the black boring screen and the crap tones that come with the iphone.. plus ive noticed you can have a movie or video taken with cam playing when someone rings u on the nokia.. its just so much easier..

bluetooth send/recieve files? where are you on the iphone.? a guy withith nick of meDevil made an app that doesent work with jailbreak but again apple are making it harder and hader to jailbreak for the hackers dev team who havent jailbroke the last two firmwares..plus MeDevil wants 4 euros for something the phone should already have..cracked versions are around.

apple are adding features that phones have had for years.. mms wow look we added mms.. and did you know you cant send the mms settings from a website and install like you do with the nokia? for me thats a big problem and my 3gs i had i couldent get the mms working. entered settings manually and still nothing.. same with wap.. no wap

but i have to say apple got a few things right like adding the same language to the phone no matter where you buy it and also firmware updates everyone gets at the same time.. which imo is a plus..

my nokia i can use as mass storage where as with the icrap everything has to go through itunes apart from pics and videos taken with the camera they show up when u plug in the usb.. so once i put files on there if for any reaosn i want to take them off i cant i have to download extra programs and pay ipod/iphone rippers.

no extra memory.. for me 32GB is enough i have even added an extra 16GB myself which might come in handy some time..

removable battery... iphones battery stuck on there you cant remove which you can buy covers that act as a second battery but it would be nice to be able to remove it still..

still after 3 iphones and they still havent added a front CAMERA.

apple limit what goes in the app store they cripple everything all the functions..

jailbreak makes the iphone that little bit better but as i said before there is no jailbreak for the last two firmwares..

what i hate about nokia is the fact when i try play any decent quality mp4 they freeze a lot and for a few seconds each time.. the worse the quality the less it freezes and crashes due to lack of ram when i dont even run anything..

iphone no background processes.. maybe to some again not a problem but nokia doesent really have enough ram to run background apps.. well a decent amount.. its ok with 2-3 max apps running. yet apple has plenty of ram yet they still refuse to allow people to do it..

apple sell you a phone tell you how to use it and dont allow you to have the simplest of things. app store is great but they got the idea from jailbreakers and they limit what goes in.. plus a lot fo complaints from developers that apple isent paying them..

ovi store was a complete copy of apple store and a waste of time because it sucks but i can download from here or any website a app or game and SEND with the BLUETOOTH and install anything.. nokia are so much more relaxed and allow me to do more with my phone.

and the qwerty keyboard makes it that much better to send text. took a little getting used to the keyboard but the nokias plus sides are so much more then the 2-3 little plus sides the iphone has.

i gave away my iphone 3gs factory unlocked 32GB and i was happy to do so.. the nokia is much better

plus iphone 3gs gps uses google maps.. which again sucks

I have used the device & can tell you that its keyboard feels good. its capacitive, vibrates, highlights and  the entire screen is one big button you must click. To me & my wife it  felt like we were clicking keys.

As for the browser; it's faster than the i-phones and works the same except for no pinch zooming, instead you must double tap.

The Battery Life on the N97 is not so impressive to me either . I'm doing as much as I can to save my battery life but My old Treo 650 easily outlast this thing. I think peoples perception of good Battery life is usually dependent on what they may have grown accustom to in the past with other devices.

BTW. It also supports Xvid out the box.

Here is another video showing what you wanted to know but on the older firmware.
Something to note is that Opera 5 Beta was released for the Blackberry too.
