You sure know sounds keys...I'll tell you that. tbh I saw this on ebay (actually similar less expesive one but this one blew me away) and they're asking $259 for it. Waayyyy too much for me. It would be very nice to own one for sure and I get what you're saying about the design, I was thinking about that also. I'm a car-audio guy and I know from my set-ups that the mids and highs are better in front where there's nothing to block (obstruct) the soundwaves, whereas the subwoofer gets more punch when it's in the right setup with the right environment (like back of a SUV). i was just looking at this for a while.....

again, IMHO only, i think this has something to do with the design and construction of the earpiece. from the diagram, the low freq and low-mid freq module is in front while the high is behind. Huh Huh Huh Huh

shouldnt be that the high freq module be in the front? reason being the high frequencies having shorter wavelength, less energy, will hence travel shorter distances before distortion occurs.

by having the low and low-mid freq modules at the back, it will not only reinforce the high freq driver in the front however, it may also act as a vibrating block, similar to a sub-woofer system, when the earphone is inserted into our ear. the surrounding ear cartilage will hold it snugly in place. you may then experience the so called sub-frequency rumble in the head thinngy.... Grin Grin Grin

just a second thought guys.... any comments???

cheers!!! Grin

I was thinking the same thing.  At first I too was thinking the mids are about perfect for our N97s but what happened to the highs? After thinking further about it I realized this is a case of the engineers making a compromise. They probably have a good Low end driver (not difficult to find) but they wanted to enhance it by throwing a high end driver in there & because of it's size The frequencies it could most accurately reproduce are likely from  2.5Khz to about 20Khz or above but not from behind a diaphragm. this explains the massive Drop at 1Khz. The biggest problem they faced the design (Bass driver in front of the Highs driver). The waver in the frequency is very telling.  This was a noble effort but at the end of the day I would pass.  I think the only way to achieve what they set out to do is with 3 drivers (Bass, Mid & High) & all three would need equal exposure with no obstructions. It could be possible to do this with two as well but I think that would maybe take years of R&D. In any case, I would keep an eye on this manufacture because I'm sure they have already come to the same conclusion. It’s likely just a matter of trying to build  it at this point.

guys.... i was just doing some snooping around for this RADUS EARPHONE... seems like this is targeted and avail for the Japanese iPod market...

http://www.radius.co.jp/tabid/68/headphones/tabid/68/ctid/3/pdid/gen000000000000066/Default.aspx Jap website

how could the japs ever overlook the design flaw??? in the days of the samurai, the fella who approved this will have his/her head chopped off and families killed....  Shocked

the only thing, i like is the high-class design and packaging.... we have to admit its really class  Tongue

in terms of construction, if they can adopt a large diaphragm design and placing the mid-high driver in an offset position, they should be able to achieve a dual diaphragm system to cover the entire freq spectrum. the traverse off-setting of the mid-high driver and accurate tuning of the x-over freq will provide for the natural separation of nuances allowing for each and every instrument to be heard in its own separate space.

that would perhaps be the most accurate dual diaphragm headphone ever made. of course the cost to own one pair may be astronomical but.... there is no price too high to pay for audio perfection.... Grin Grin Grin

Hi doglan97, thank you for the info.... Wink

hmmmm...... funny that the RADUS earphones sell at a higher price compared to SHURE. if they are a lifestyle product i guess it'd be fine. in terms of their audio technology, sad to say they may have longer way to go. The SHURES are very developed though after all they are the market leaders for all levels of mics.

perhaps before i commit, i may just take a listen to the SHURES at our local dealer first  Grin Grin Grin

thanks again.

Cheers!!! Grin

I don't really use my phone much as an Mp3 player but I'm thinking about going with the Klipsch Image S4 earphones and wondering has anybody tried them?  it really sucks that you can't demo ear-buds.

Now I know I'm going crazy for even considering this

just took a glance at this thread. was very disappointed with the low updates from nokia so i decided to look around to push my N97 to its limits.

tested both the suggested settings for loud speakers and earphones. it works really fantastic. i'm now using it on my phone with philips SHE 9500.

thanks for sharing.
