Ouch! I am on fibre optic 20mb and get up to 2.3 megs per sec!

And going up to 50Mb bandwidth next week  Grin

Anyways, gonna make this a sticky as it's important and very useful so many thanks Sam for the topic  Wink

Man I envy you guys, the fastest we can get here is ADSL 512/128 kbps (kilobits not kilobytes) and I would have to pay $ 203.00 per month. It's absurd, just crooked. Right now I have the lowest ADSL package 128/64 kbps and I'm paying $44 a month. Isn't it ridiculous???  Angry Angry
Right now I'm waiting for the competition (Wimax from Digicel) but our local Telecom Authorities are still pushing everything under their feet....why?? Because some people of our leading Telecom company are also benefitting from those authorities  Angry Angry

Doglan which country we are talking about?

Sorry to say but developed countries have these things cheaper, whereas in developing countries they put heavy prices on rubbish services....
Such a shame.

Yeah, I'm in Suriname. That's in South America. Actually we shouldn't have to pay that much, it's just that this company Telesur has monopoly here. Just over 2 years ago they started to have competition (Digicel came to our rescue here after MANY MANY disussions with local authorities) and all the prices dropped. I know we aren't a Developed country but the prices shurely don't have to be soo high for crappy service.
Anxiously awaiting Digicel with their WIMAX with 5-10meg speeds.

Sorry to hear that, and like I said, in developing country they should make it cheap so that people can benefit out of it.
Thats dam expensive, but I know the coporate people bribe authorities and play monoply in the region....
Yes you people need competition to bring that price down and improve services.
Best of luck mate.

I get up to 7Mb on my N97 and up to 5.5Mb on my netbook dongle. That is way faster then when I used my phoneline for broadband which would only go up to 4Mb !!!!

And they say mobile broadband will get even faster! Bring it on  Grin

So no excuse for any country now!
