From other thread (REALLY DESPERATE)

Hi guys,

I've tried to upgrade my version from 20 --> 21.
But my phone keeps on rebooting, and NSU keeps telling me recover upgrade, but it just sits on 15 minutes.

I've tried hard reset, soft reset(7370) but every time, its the same problem.

Recently, I've tried to flash it with Phoenix, but the flash fails -

The flashing failed. Do you like to retry the flashing?

HRESULT 0x8401f141 (-2080247487)

Flash: Boot rom was not detected after phone boot up. Unable to start flashing.
Scanning image files...
ERROR: Failed to set phone to flashmode
All operations completed
Product flashing failed.

I've also tried FOTA, but the upgrade is not available...

Can anyone please explain this to me?

Thx
D

Try doing a hard reset the hardware way which means :

Truning off the fone openning the sliding keyboard

Press LeftShift + SpaceBar + BackSpace and the PowerOn button all together and keep pressing untill you see the nokia logo release them i hope this works for you or who ever is trying .

tell me  if it worked

Hi Disturbed,

I have tried that reset almost like a million times Sad
It still doesn't update the damn firmware Sad

I read if I change the usb cable to another port on my pc will "fix" the problem. I will try this and check in a while. Will post my findings...

Cheers

Try putting your phone into local mode 1st. i dont know how you're going to do it
but what you need to try is something called a dead USB flash

as bronx said you need to flash it as dead fone , what do you think bronx i suggest first he flash the fone with v12 then change the product code then the update from the nokia software updater cuz i dont v20 and 21 is a lil bit risky to flash !

This is what happens when you attempt to change something in the rom
and the checsums catch you. as far as i know the only fix is with fota.

But i need more info from you 1st. for starters did you change your product code?
and exactly what firmware did you use when you attempted the Upgrade?
if so I need the details of your phone.  505 507?  the only thing I don't need or want is  your IMEI number. But I do need to know the exact steps you took.

Downgrading to V12 at this moment may work but only If you have the firmware that conforms to your current product code & even then its a Grey area.

getting you on the Correct Version of V21 sounds like your only hope
Or possibly (tho Unlikely) reinstalling your old version of V20

Did you try installing an Unhacked version of V21?

ok guys, this is what the problem was:

it was actually a Windows (7 x64) problem, whereby windows did not load the "flasher cable" driver, which is infact I reckon the boot rom when flashing / upgrading your phone.

What I simply did was, change the connectivity option on the N97 to mass storage & not ask for the option, then unplugged the usb cable from my normal posistion and plug it in another usb port. Also, what I did, is in windows, turn the driver internet check off, cause that I reckon was the MAIN problem, where windows tried to update the driver from the net, and the N97 having a "short" boot up time & disconnect time, it didnt allow windows to search the net for the driver, and install it..., rather driver update from net was turned off, so it automatically the driver was installed from the hard disk, instead of searching the net..., from there onwards I thought I just try using phoenix to upgrade (which I should have tried NSU) but alas, upgrade was done in a matter of minutes. And so far so good, I'm loving v21.

Bronx, sorry, if I didnt post much info from the start. I was on 505, v20 and yes, I had to change my prodcuct code as it did not allow me initially to upgrade firmware with original pc...

Thx nonetheless guys. All the info much appreciated Smiley
Hehe, this was driving me INSANE, as before I upgrade from v12 to v20 with no hassles, and all of a sudden, this sh!t happened LOL

Cheers

No problem , mate but i gotta tell you its very easy and simple using pheonix and you may get an error msg during flashing but just click on continue and everything is done by the way from last night till today i flashed the fone more than 5 times and every time i did it from the first time without any problems cheers

Hey guys,

New Here, and i got a problem with my N97.

I hvnt had the chance to read through all the threads, as im sure that someone else would have encountered the same problem as me, and would have solved it by now, but here it goes.

When i tried starting my phone up, it got to the 'NOKIA' (white background and Blue Nokia logo) screen, and it jams there, it gets stuck. So what i did was sent it to the Nokia service centre( like an idiot), and got the phone back in a WEEKS time, only to find the same problem occure within the 48 hours.

So i went on to the Net, and found out that i could 'Hard Reset' the phone by pressing some buttons, so i did, and it HELPED, it got restarted, factory settings and everything. so i just left it off. But about a half hour ago, i restarted the damn thing again, and the Same thing happened, Jammed at the White and Nokia logo screen. Whats up with that.

Currently on version 20.

Can anyone help me with this, as this is really really annoying.

Is it a defect in my set, or just software problem.

Thanks!

Perv.

i dont think its a software thing , its your problem i think you installed something which harmed your fone so after a hard reset we highly recommand that you format e : so you can do the process again and hard reset then format .
