I had BIKNokI's problem with the light remaining on after upgrade to V21, but then did the software install again (very quick) and it resolved itself.  Occasionally, however, if comes back again and the solution there is to reboot the phone.  Shouldn't be necessary, but there you go.

I have two grudges of my own about this unit though.

1) The keylock doesn't always completely work.  I lock the keypad and put the unit into the holster, but when I remove it later, the camera (or sometimes another app) has activated.  Of course I haven't been able to replicate this in front of service personnel though!  Has anyone else had this issue?  Is there a solution?

2) I have just sent my N97 to the shop to have its keypad lock slider replaced, after it broke off.  This would seem to be a design 101 snafu - why make this small, but vital and frequently used piece out of flimsy plastic, while you make the camera button and volume controls that you might use once a month or so, out of aluminium?  AND!!! When you replace that small and flimsy piece, you have to replace the whole surround!!
I am annoyed about this, specially because the Nokia Care Centre made me pay about Stg40 equivalent (in Bangkok) for the privelege of replacing this piece in a 4 month old phone.  If this breaks again with further cost to me, I shall be using the handily placed "recycle" bin in the Nokia Care Centre for my N97!

I had the same problem with the screen light staying on and draining the battery..it also keeps freezing so I have to remove the battery and restart...the screen also keeps moving making it impossible to operate...few times the phone has overheated and turned itself off at the same time draining the battery. On removing the battery, I found it was hot....sometimes when text, it randomly types numbers and then deletes the whole text message....All these problems have been going on for a while so today I sent it back to Vodafone for repairs. N97 is the worst phone I've had. I will never ever have a Nokia again...

Yes, I also had the same problem with the ringtone.  I set a new tone, but then for certain numbers it still plays the Nokia tune. Hadn't connected it to the landscape mode though...

I had the same problem...I found that the double entries ie same contacts on the sim and phone memory always played the default ring tone. Just erase one of the entries and it should be fine..hope this helps..and if I remember correctly its to do with the favourite numbers...they could be doubled up in the same directory...

Hi,

I have downloaded a video file (actually an episode of a Tv series) from internet and I can watch it on my laptop without having any problems. However, although I converted the file into an mp4, I still can not run it on my N97. Do u have any idea why this would be the case?? I'll appreciate any help...

Thank you in advance...

Hi fellas ,
From few days i've notice that when I start my ovi store application it freeze after finding a network. I've tried to reinstall the application several times - same thing nothing changes. I even reinstall my phone software but yet again nothing changes.
So as it seems Ovi store application is the only way to download and install applications from ovi.com and i'm desperate that i cant make it run .
Did someone experienced the same problem and does someone have the solution?
if not does know other way to download application from ovi store ?

i have experience the keylock problem and i have found out that if you put your phone in the holster (which im asuming is the one that come with the N97) while you are holding it tightly then it will for sure snag on the keylock and open the lock again when u have already lock it before sliding it in. try not to hold the holster too tightly when slotting in the phone and it should be fine

My n97 keeps running out of memory on the C: drive. It is only happened recently, i have to alway delete my text msgs. Ill have like 20 and it runs out of memory. i recently got rid of all my photos. and still it says low memory. I also got rid of a lot of downloaded apps and games. that fixed the problem for about a day and again its all the way down to about 400 kB. its really really annoying. Anyone else having this problem. I never thought I would run out of memory, considering the capacity this phone has. HELP!!

Hi
I'm new in here and surely happy to see people with similar issues gathering.
I recently updated to version 21.0.45. I don't really feel much of an improvement, maybe just a bit of smoother scrolling and touch. That I'm not quite sure about.

I've had this distinct problem (compared to my old n73), while talking esp with loud speaker on (while driving), there have been hundreds of times that I felt my voice wasn't going through, as if the other person couldn't hear me, to the point that I had to shoooouuuuuut to make myself heard on the other side. Is it a sound issue or it's to do with the poor reception. I'm not sure the new version has taken care of this problem.

Besides, that rotating home screen is a real nuisance, esp when someone calls you .Sometimes I felt picking up the phone would cause total disconnection, so I disabled it.
in your opinion do you think these issues and like ones will be solved by future updates? And how often is a new update released?
Thanks for your help in advance,

I'll have to agree with most people that this is the worst Nokia phone I have had. The out of box experience is terrible and lack of storage and memory is its downfall.

If having a phone with 32GB of mass memory and not being able to use an extra 50MB for the c: drive like they have done for other phones is beyond me. Then to help the lack of memory they full the phone with applications that build databases on the c: drive without options to move it. (yes every song and picture you have on your e: drive also takes some database space on your c: drive.)

I have had my phone tell me all day long after taking it off the charger indicate to me that it was charging. Also at one time it was not working on the network at all (I rang my mobile to check) but told me that I had one bar of signal all the time.
These thing occur even tho I have over 30MB of c: left and I close programs I am not using. I also get the nokia tunes ringtone now and again, tho thanks to peoples posts here I'm going to try disabling the autoupdate.

As some one that keeps phones in almost mint condition and never broken a phone, I have had to have this one repaired because the left loud speaker no longer worked. This is not a good thing for a 3 month old phone.

I have now learnt how to manage this phone and my last hardware reset (done many) I wrote down each program I installed and the memory used and the amount of c: drive space left after each application. Did you realise that installing a program to you mass memory also takes space on your c: drive?

I think on my hard reset (yes I am planning one) I'll have a clearer method to use.

Hi! I'm a newbie here... I've done a hard reset of my phone recently, than reinstalled the software. Unfortunately to my surprise the OVI MAPS went back to the previous version 3.01 or something... I've tried to fix it by updating software again by OVI suite and SW update but it just doesn't show any OVI map updates... My free navigation is gone as well and it's asking me to pay... Please help!!!
