OK guys,

This is a probelm I know that most people with an N97 have had at some point - the C-Drive Phone memory filling up.

I've now had the phone for a whole year and not once had to format it. However, it's now getting to situation critical!

I've spent hours browsing the net for help with this and I'm absolutely out of ideas. I have almost nothing stored on the phone memory. I've uninstalled all the Apps I can and reinstalled on the Mass Memory instead.

I have installed Xplore which I use regularly to delete the DMGR, cache and temp folders. Now here's the strange part...

If I start Xplore and select every file and folder on the C-Drive and the go the the properties I am supposedly using just over 2Mb of storage space. However I have no literally a few Kb left of space. So tell me, what on earth is using the other 70Mb?!

Any help extermely appreciated!

Mark.

Mark unless your phone is hacked & you have RomPatcher with open4all patch running you are not going to see within system files no matter how you configure X-Plore.

For general freeing up of phone memory just search this forum, its been documented many times.

I understand that there is going to be some System files that you cannot see but 70Mb?! What on earth can be taking up so much space if I have hardly anything on that drive? The few apps I have aren't on that drive and if I browse all the folders that I can see with X-Plore they're all empty!

I cannot see anything else I can remove or move to make space so unless there something storing hidden system files on there which I don't know about. I've alerady scoured the Internet for suggestions but I can't see anything I haven't already tried.

Anybody else got any ideas?

I use a filemanager from drjukka.com and it shows me that there seems to be a ram drive using  lot of memory (in my case: 40 mb). I don't know why and I already started a discussion about that. Maybe you try drjukka.com explorer, too. I wonder if it also says that you have a drive d:

Read post #1 above Wink

I say again - you need hacked phone to view the system files taking up all your space on C:, otherwise system folders will appear empty.

I understand that but either way when you look at the folder properties surely it wouldn't just show up as using 0Kb (or something small). Wouldn't it still show you the size of the folder? It just doesn't make sense that it would also hide the amount of memory a folder is using.

Not true - if the file manager doesn't have permission to view particular folders, it can only display existence of such folders based on the parent folder/directory header, but no other details. It will therefore default to display such folders with 0 byte size!
